Nick Kyrgios has been suspended after testing positive for cocaine. The Australian tested positive during the Mallorca Open at the end of June. Benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine, was found in his blood.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At that tournament, he was defeated by Britain\u2019s Adam Walton in the first round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kyrgios has been ineligible to play since August 4. The former world No. 13 has the right to appeal the suspension, but he has not done so yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an Instagram post, Kyrgios wrote that he had made a major mistake and that he takes full responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Australian has played just four matches this year, as he has been struggling with wrist and knee injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He played his last match in the doubles competition at Wimbledon<\/a>, where he was defeated alongside Alexander Bublik.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nick Kyrgios has been a close friend of Novak Djokovic<\/a> in recent years, and last year they even played together in the doubles competition at the tournament in Brisbane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
