The Special Prosecutor’s Office in Pri\u0161tina<\/strong> has filed an indictment against 20 people, accusing them of allegedly committing war crimes against the civilian population in \u0110akovica, with a proposal for them to be tried in absentia because they are unavailable to local judicial authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The prosecution announced that the indictment was filed against Milovan Kova\u010devi\u0107, Radomir \u010coli\u0107, Milo\u0161 Dosan, Predrag Risti\u0107, Sr\u0111an Krsti\u0107, Ljubi\u0161a Obradovi\u0107, \u017divko Sari\u0107, Spaso Sari\u0107, Lazar Dra\u0161kovi\u0107, Zvonko Risti\u0107, Darko Gligorijevi\u0107, \u010cedomir Bo\u017eovi\u0107, Vladimir Bo\u017eovi\u0107, Robert Dobrunaj, Radomir Rakovi\u0107, Ljubi\u0161a Rakovi\u0107, Milo\u0161 \u0160\u0107epanovi\u0107, Milan Radoi\u010di\u0107, Svetislav Gligorijevi\u0107, and Tomica Avramovi\u0107.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

They are charged, according to the indictment, with the criminal offense of “war crime against the civilian population.”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the indictment, “during 1998\u20131999, M. K., in the capacity of head of the Secretariat of Internal Affairs (SUP) in \u0110akovica, R. \u010c., as commander of the Special Police Units (PJP), and M. D., as commander of the 52nd Rocket Artillery Brigade, together with the accused P. R., S. K., L. O., \u017d. S., S. S., L. D., Z. R., D. G., \u010c. B., V. B., R. B., R. R., L. R., M. \u0160., M. R., S. G., and T. A., as members of the aforementioned units, are accused of participating in the killing of 107 civilians during a major military-police operation.”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The indictment states that during the operation, the accused “first separated women and children from men.”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the allegations, women were “deprived of gold jewelry, money, and other valuables,”<\/strong> while men were executed \u2014 some in their homes and yards, and others at a location known as “Tali\u0107a Bridge.”<\/strong> The indictment also alleges that houses were burned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
