While the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija are facing unprecedented pressure, fabricated arrests, and open terror on a daily basis, a scandal and a blatant provocation took place in southern Serbia. Albanian President Bajram Begaj visited Bujanovac and Pre\u0161evo, and footage of his arrival caused widespread anger and a storm on social media due to the armed security detail with “long guns” that marched into the town, but also because of the complete absence of symbols of the Republic of Serbia, on whose territory these municipalities are located.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Begaj was welcomed in front of the Municipal building by the President of the Municipality Arber Pajaziti and the head of the local assembly Driton Red\u017eepi with their associates, as well as a girl wearing an Albanian traditional costume, while there was no trace of the Serbian flag or any symbols of Serbia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The extremely heavily armed security detail, some of whom carried automatic rifles in the very center of the town in broad daylight, understandably alarmed citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The head of the Bujanovac branch of the opposition People’s Movement of Serbia (NPS), Miroslav Joci\u0107, harshly commented on these troubling scenes from the center of Bujanovac:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“This looks more like a scene from an action movie than a visit by a statesman. So many people with long guns in the very heart of the town do not send a message of security, but rather a cold and clear message of fear. The entire scene looks like a poorly directed performance, without measure and without dignity,” Joci\u0107 stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the readers of Bujanova\u010dke compared the visit of the Albanian president to Bujanovac with the visit of Serbian President Aleksandar Vu\u010di\u0107 in 2019, who did not go to the Municipality building, but instead visited a local caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“And that caf\u00e9 has also been sold,” he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
