The University of Belgrade ranked among the top 1.9 percent of world universities on the just-published Global 2000 ranking list for the year 2026.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe largest global academic ranking placed us at a high 393rd position in competition with 21,291 universities,\u201d says the rector of the University of Belgrade, Vladan \u0110oki\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Global 2000 list, published by the Center for World University Rankings, was compiled based on the analysis of more than 80 million pieces of data, and according to all criteria, the University of Belgrade received the highest marks, state those from UB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The key elements on the basis of which the ranking was carried out are the quality of education, alumni employment, faculty quality, and research performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CWUR uses exclusively objective indicators, without relying on surveys and data submitted by the universities themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn a year that was particularly challenging, due to social circumstances and the economic and political crisis, the University of Belgrade showed that it is a relevant scientific-educational institution,\u201d it is emphasized in the University’s statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is a collective success of teachers, researchers, associates, and alumni who, through their work and achievements, contributed to the University of Belgrade being at the very world top of educational institutions for the ninth consecutive year. Our current and future students will help us to justify that success in the coming years as well,\u201d stated rector Vladan \u0110oki\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the CRWU list, the University of Novi Sad is in 1,136th place, that is, among the top 5.4 percent, the University of Kragujevac is in 1,549th place (among the top 7.3 percent), and the University of Ni\u0161 ranked in the 1,886th position, which placed it among the top 8.9 percent of the most successful in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let us remind you that last year’s position of the University of Belgrade \u2013 387th place and placement among the top 1.9 percent of the most successful was a cause for attacks by the authorities, who accused rector \u0110oki\u0107 of being responsible for the drop of our largest and oldest university on the CRWU list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who is at the top?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This year’s 10 best-ranked universities in the world are: Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Cambridge, Oxford, Princeton, University of Pennsylvania, Columbia, Yale, and the University of Chicago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CWUR evaluates universities based on four criteria, without relying on surveys or data submitted by the universities themselves: quality of education (25 percent), employability of graduates (25 percent), quality of faculty staff (10 percent), and research work (40 percent).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For this year’s ranking, 81 million pieces of data based on concrete results were analyzed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The United States of America has eight representatives among the top 10 universities in the world and, with 313 institutions, occupies second place in terms of the number of universities in the top 2,000, behind China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Harvard, Stanford, and MIT are among the most cited universities in the world, while all Ivy League universities are represented among the top 75.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

China now has 360 universities among the top 2,000, and all members of the C9 League recorded progress compared to the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Japan has 102 universities on the list, led by the University of Tokyo which is in 13th place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The United Kingdom has 89 institutions among the top 2,000. Cambridge is the best-ranked public university in the world for the thirteenth consecutive year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

France has 71 representatives, and the best-placed institution is PSL University in 20th place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Russia, led by Moscow State University in 264th position, has 42 universities among the top 2,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When it comes to the region and the universities with which domestic ones are compared, the University of Ljubljana is in 444th place, and the University of Zagreb is in 522nd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
