In the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade, Veselin Mili\u0107 was interrogated due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that, as the chief of the Police Administration for the City of Belgrade, he committed multiple criminal offenses with the aim of concealing the committed criminal offense of Attempted aggravated murder in a restaurant in Senjak on May 12, 2026, after which the disappearance of A.N. was reported on May 13.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The suspect presented his defense during the interrogation, the prosecutor’s office announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the interrogation, the prosecutor’s office proposed to the judge for preliminary proceedings of the Higher Court in Belgrade to order detention for the suspect so that he would not influence witnesses and would not repeat the criminal offense in a short period of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By the order to conduct an investigation, Veselin Mili\u0107 is charged with the criminal offenses of Failure to report a criminal offense and an offender and Assisting an offender after the commission of a criminal offense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to this suspect, the order to conduct an investigation includes eight more individuals, who will be interrogated at the prosecutor’s office within the legal detention period, about which the public will be informed in a timely manner, the statement adds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police Colonel Veselin Mili\u0107 is no longer the chief of the Police Administration for the City of Belgrade, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) announced earlier today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As stated, until the appointment of a new chief of the Police Administration for the City of Belgrade, management duties will be performed by the deputy chief of this administration, Police Colonel Dejan Bojovi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade announced earlier today that, in the continuation of the operation to shed light on the circumstances under which A.N. disappeared, members of the Criminal Police Directorate, the Crime Suppression Service, and the Service for Combating Organized Crime of the MUP RS, deprived the chief of the Police Administration for the City of Belgrade of his liberty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mili\u0107 was ordered to be detained for up to 48 hours due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that he committed the criminal offenses of failure to report a criminal offense and an offender and assisting an offender after the commission of a criminal offense, within which period he will be brought for interrogation before the acting public prosecutor, it was stated in the announcement of the prosecutor’s office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
