The project is being realized with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture, and after the renovation, the house in Ruma will become a memorial space dedicated to Mileva Mari\u0107 Einstein.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A modern multimedia museum solution will put the finishing touches on the renovation of the former home of the Mari\u0107 family in this Srem town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Friday, the Municipality of Ruma announced a public procurement worth seven and a half million dinars, the subject of which is equipping the house of Mileva Mari\u0107 Einstein with equipment for modern museum presentation, as part of the celebration of 150 years since the birth of this prominent Serbian scientist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project is being realized with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia through the “Cities in Focus” program, and the house at 38 \u017delezni\u010dka Street, after renovation, will become a memorial space dedicated to Mileva Mari\u0107 Einstein (1875\u20131948).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mari\u0107 family lived in this house from 1878 to 1892. Mileva’s sister Zorka and brother Milo\u0161 were born in it. In September 2023, the property passed from private ownership to the ownership of the Municipality of Ruma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Due to its extremely poor condition and decades of collapse, the old house had to be demolished in May 2024. A completely new building of identical dimensions was built in its place, and the construction of the structure itself and the exterior of the new house was brought to an end in December of the same year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new house at 38 \u017delezni\u010dka Street completely simulates the dimensions and form of a traditional Vojvodina ground-floor house. The front street facade has been returned to its authentic style from the end of the 19th century, with classic narrow windows and decorative cornices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Modernity versus tradition<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

While the street side is traditional, the back and side parts of the building integrated modern architectural elements, including glass portals that let in a large amount of natural light. The building was also expanded by gaining an additional floor, i.e., an attic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to earlier announcements, inside the building there will be a Memorial Room dedicated to the Mari\u0107 family, with a special focus on the work of scientist Mileva and her brother Milo\u0161 Mari\u0107, as well as a gallery space, a hall for lectures, screenings, promotions, and a depot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mileva Mari\u0107: Life and work through technology<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

As specified in the tender documentation, for the purposes of a permanent multimedia exhibition dedicated to Mileva Mari\u0107 with the goal of equipping her house in Ruma, the development of a modern multimedia solution is planned, which will contribute to the attractiveness, interactivity, and educational value of the museum exhibition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The goal of the exhibition is to provide visitors with a unique experience through innovative digital displays that combine biographical data, scientific heritage, and the historical context of Mileva Mari\u0107’s life, creating an engaging, informative, and emotional experience,” it is stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The proposed solution involves the use of tablet devices, interactive multimedia displays, and the “Make It Alive” platform, which enables the presentation of narratives through text, video, and images, with the possibility of choosing multiple languages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visitors will have the opportunity to independently explore the life and work of Mileva Mari\u0107, to discover archival materials, digitally revived photographs, and multimedia displays that connect art, science, and technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project includes the development of a specialized application for displaying multimedia content, the implementation of a QR system for accessing additional information, the integration of text-to-speech (TTS) functionality, and the setup of fixed multimedia positions with a predefined narrative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This ensures an intuitive and interactive experience that allows visitors a deeper understanding of Mileva’s contribution to science and culture,” the tender documentation states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Virtual curator<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In the museum space, there will also be a Virtual Curator\u2014an advanced functionality based on voice interaction, which enables a dialogue between the visitor and the museum. Visitors can ask questions about the works and receive personalized answers in real-time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The deadline for submitting bids is May 18, 2026, and more information can be found on the Public Procurement Portal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
