Prince-successor Philip Kara\u0111or\u0111evi\u0107 visited the village of Bani\u010dina near Smederevska Palanka with his family, where the 101st anniversary of the erection of the memorial fountain to the fallen warriors of the First World War was marked.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ceremony was held in the presence of locals, descendants of the warriors, and numerous guests, and Prince Philip stated that Bani\u010dina represents one of the symbols of Serbian suffering, but also of unwavering honor and loyalty to the fatherland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“In 1925, my great-grandfather, H.M. King Alexander I, attended the ceremony and paid tribute to his fallen comrades. Today, after more than a century, I feel a special duty and honor to have come to Bani\u010dina to pay respect to their sacrifice,” said Prince Philip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He reminded that Bani\u010dina was known in the past for its “firm faith and unbreakable libertarian spirit,” but also for its loyalty to the King and Serbia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The great hero of the First Serbian Uprising, Stanoje Stamatovi\u0107 Glava\u0161, is buried in front of the village church, and the residents of this region throughout history have, as he pointed out, made enormous sacrifices for freedom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
