A Serbian citizen (50) caused a traffic accident on Wednesday while drunk on the A1 motorway in Croatia, at Nereti\u0107 near Karlovac, in which two of his passengers, 23-year-old and 24-year-old citizens of Nepal, were killed, the Karlovac police announced today.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement notes that the accident occurred when the Serbian citizen, under the influence of 2.22 per mille of alcohol and driving a car with Dubrovnik license plates in a southbound direction, failed to stay in the center of the marked traffic lane and instead turned right off the road onto a grassy surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The vehicle struck a metal safety fence, overturned several times, and flew down a slope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The passengers in the vehicle, citizens of Nepal, were killed in the accident, while the 50-year-old driver sustained minor injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The investigation established that the driver was wearing a seat belt, but the passengers were not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A criminal complaint will be filed against the driver, and he will be taken into custody, the police in Karlovac announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
