Vladimir Cvetkovi\u0107, the legendary official of FC Crvena zvezda and former basketball player for the Red and Whites, has passed away at the age of 85.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cvetkovi\u0107 died this Wednesday, on St. George’s Day, reports “Novosti”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vladimir Cvetkovi\u0107 is one of the most significant figures in the history of Yugoslav sports, a man who left an indelible mark both on the court and in the office. As a celebrated basketball player for Crvena zvezda, he was synonymous with elegance and efficiency, while in the jersey of the Yugoslav national team, he won a historic silver at the Olympic Games in Mexico City in 1968.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His second career was at the very least equally impressive. As the long-time general secretary of FC Crvena zvezda, he became one of those most responsible for the team from Ljutice Bogdana climbing to the roof of Europe and the world in 1991. His ability for modern club management and visionary approach turned Zvezda into a European giant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the aforementioned, Cvetkovi\u0107 also served as the Minister of Sports, always maintaining the authority and gentlemanly manners for which he remained recognizable in public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By the way, Vladimir Cvetkovi\u0107 was the first officially elected best athlete in the history of SD Crvena zvezda, back in 1965.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
