The current president of the Novi Beograd Water Polo Club and former trophy-winning national team player Slobodan Soro has been elected as the new president of the Water Polo Federation of Serbia.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Slobodan Soro was the only candidate for president of the Water Polo Federation of Serbia (VSS). He was elected at today’s electoral session of the Assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Soro replaced Viktor Jeleni\u0107 in the position of president, who had been at the head of the federation since April 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The former goalkeeper won eight medals at major competitions during his national team career. He was decorated with two bronzes at the Olympic Games, one gold and one silver each at the world championships, as well as two golds, one silver, and one bronze at the European championships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After Serbia, Soro also played for the Brazilian national team, with which he won bronze at the Pan American Games in Lima in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was a club champion of Europe twice \u2013 in 2000 with the Be\u010dej team and in 2011 with Partizan, whose cap he wore on several occasions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marko Avramovi\u0107, the current general secretary of the Association of Water Polo Coaches of Serbia and a former national team player, was elected president of the VSS Assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Soro and Avramovi\u0107 were elected to a four-year mandate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the Instagram page “New York Stands with Students in Serbia,” an invitation was sent to all citizens living in New York to come on Saturday, May 9 at 11:52 am in front of the Cornell Tech campus in this city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are not giving up. May 9 is our answer. For students. For citizens. For a better future for Serbia. See you on Saturday, May 9,” the post emphasizes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
