At the international photography competition INTERVAL in Brazil, Serbian photographer Pavel Surovi from Kisa\u010d won two gold medals.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the portrait photography category, the portrait of Mary Magdalene left the jury breathless and was declared the best portrait of the competition. Another photograph from Pavel Surovi’s “Saints” cycle, the photograph of Queen Nefertiti, received the salon’s gold medal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, at the international photography competition “Czech Photo Art” in the Czech Republic, Surovi won a silver medal for the portrait of Mary Magdalene. He will receive the medal on May 9 in the Old Castle building in the Czech town of Hranice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is not the first time that Pavel Surovi has won medals in the Czech Republic. He was declared the best portrait photographer in the Czech Republic at the international photo salon Bohemia in Prague, and in Vsetin as the best photographer of the biennial, where the jury was enchanted by his “Serbian Warriors.” The portrait of Saint Mary Magdalene also won the third jury prize in Paris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The portrait of Queen Nefertiti first debuted in Cyprus, where it won a gold medal, and later in Turkey, Albania, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The portrait of Saint Teresa also won a gold medal in Montenegro, and it will be exhibited and awarded at the “My Iceland” exhibition in Iceland. The colorful portrait of Countess Bathory has won numerous medals and awards again this year. Last year, Surovi won a gold medal in China specifically for the portrait of Countess Bathory, which represents his most awarded portrait.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“After the global success of the photographs of my ‘Serbian Warriors’ in folk costumes, I am glad that my spiritual interpretations of historical figures, with Slavic symbols, dressed in folk costumes\u2014representing saints, angels, the Mother of God, empresses, heavenly Eves\u2014have also found a way to the hearts of the jury, but also to audiences around the world. From Brazil, Iceland, France, Russia, and the Czech Republic, the portrait of Mary Magdalene leaves the jury breathless. The eyes of Mary Magdalene point to the inner strength of women, but also of Christianity as a whole. When I was creating the portrait of Mary Magdalene, even artists had prejudices, but I did not deviate from my vision, and now, along with Saint Teresa, it is my most awarded portrait,” says Surovi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Humbly, I think my ‘Serbian Warriors’ should greet guests in large formats at the world specialized exhibition Expo 2027 in Serbia. They are our new heroines and have become a global brand. I managed in a different way\u2014artistic, philosophical, spiritual, and ambassadorial\u2014to break through into the world through quality artistic works, in my case artistic photographs, to present Serbia in a dignified and sublime way and show the world our primordial beauty and rich culture. That is why my art project ‘Throne,’ which was made for the opening of the European Capital of Culture \u2013 Novi Sad 2022, became the most awarded art project in the world originating from Serbia and managed to win more than 100 awards in a short time. I managed to materialize my timeless ideas and visions into beautiful, strong Serbian women! In ‘Serbian Warriors’ and ‘Throne’ lies the strength of our Serbian people!” stated Serbian artist and photographer Pavel Surovi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exhibitions of Pavel Surovi across the world have managed to reach both young and older audiences in a fresh and aesthetically appealing way. As the Serbian photographer Surovi stated, his great wish is to display “Serbian Warriors” in cultural centers across Serbia, but also at the Expo 2027 exhibition. This would allow the wider audience to get acquainted with their history, cultural heritage, tradition, and unreachable myth in a new, interactive way through dialogue with his photographs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
