Serious accusations are shaking the Serbian community in France, where the president of the Union of Serbs of France, David Jakovljevi\u0107, claims that the Bishop of Western Europe Justin is involved in controversial financial moves and political pressures linked to the authorities in Serbia, in a statement for the portal Rasejanje.info.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the website that deals with themes of the lives of Serbs in the diaspora and reports on their activities, an interview was published with the president of the Union of Serbs of France, David Jakovljevi\u0107, in which he speaks about the problems facing our compatriots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the central themes of that interview is Bishop Justin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perhaps not as well known to the general public as his namesake from \u017di\u010da, who was recently suspended by the top of the SPC for supporting students, with the explanation that he did not lead the diocese in an adequate manner, the bishop from Paris found himself under scrutiny due to the purchase of a house in Argenteuil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As stated, Justin, who before coming to the position of bishop was a vicar bishop to Patriarch Porfirije, bought a property worth about 500,000 euros, for which, according to claims from the Serbian community in France made to the portal Rasejanje.info, there is suspicion that it was financed by money from Serbia, without a clear explanation of the origin of the funds. The property is, as claimed, intended for the bishop’s residence, which opened additional questions, since his predecessor lived in an apartment for years without the need for such a purchase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jakovljevi\u0107 states that the issue of money and influence is one of the key reasons for the conflict within the diaspora, but also for his split with church structures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I got the impression that the official policy from Belgrade is present with this representative of the Church as well,” he said, adding that he refused to participate in activities that, as he claims, had a political character, including the organizing of so-called secure votes for the elections in Serbia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to his words, this was followed by pressure to withdraw from the position of president of the Union of Serbs of France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conflict in the diaspora and accusations of interference<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Jakovljevi\u0107 claims that Bishop Justin favored certain associations and interfered in the work of the Union, which further deepened the conflict.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“He did not say clearly that I am a legitimate interlocutor, but allowed other associations to come into his office and interfere in the affairs of the Union. That is when things escalated,” he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As one of the examples, he cites the call for a boycott of the Saint Sava Ball in Paris, as well as the ban on certain members attending the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also claims that during one conversation with the bishop he was called a liar, and that he was told he would no longer receive a blessing nor be given communion, which he experienced as pressure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the meantime, the portal Nova.rs came into possession of a document from Bishop Justin addressed to the clergy in France, in which a complete termination of cooperation with the Union of Serbs of France is requested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the act, dated January 28, 2026, in Paris, it is stated that the clergy, the bishop, and all the clerics “until further notice terminate all cooperation with the association Union of Serbs in France,” including attendance at events organized by that association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is further stated that any different conduct will be considered a violation of the decision and will be sanctioned in accordance with the rules of the Serbian Orthodox Church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Divisions and supervision of the French authorities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Jakovljevi\u0107 also points to divisions within the Serbian community in France, which he believes are further encouraged by political influence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“In the church here, you absolutely must not say anything against Aleksandar Vu\u010di\u0107, just like once against Tito,” he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, French authorities have increased control over the financial flows of religious and migrant organizations. According to claims from the diaspora, special supervision over the finances of the diocese has been introduced, as part of a broader policy of controlling foreign influence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
