The health condition of General Ratko Mladic, who is in the detention unit of the Hague Tribunal, is getting worse, his son Darko Mladic said today.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Darko Mladic, who returned from visiting his father, told the RTRS Morning Program that if the general is not released on temporary freedom for treatment, it will mean that they have opted for a death sentence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I returned from the visit last night. The visit lasted three hours, but he could only stay awake for half an hour. And he only said a few words. He managed to recognize me. My mother was also there for the visit,” said Darko Mladic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Darko says that he returned from The Hague together with doctors from Serbia, and their report will follow, which will be an integral part of the submission requesting that General Mladic be released for treatment in Serbia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It no longer makes sense for the general to go through this torture. The therapy was changed just before our doctors arrived. Our doctors said that something else must be changed. But I am not allowed to talk about it because it is confidential and will be part of our submission,” stated Darko Mladic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said that the question is whether the general can even be helped in Serbia, as the damage has already been done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He recalled that their previous request for temporary release for treatment was rejected with the explanation that it could only happen if he were acutely and terminally ill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Well, now is that phase. If they do not release him now, it means they have opted to carry out a death sentence,” said Darko Mladic and added that he still hopes the general will be released, Tanjug reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
