Twenty-seven years ago, in the night between April 22 and 23, NATO bombed the RTS building and killed sixteen journalists and workers. For the first time in the history of warfare, a media house that had previously been declared a legitimate military target was hit. The RTS building was bombed during a news broadcast at 2:06 a.m.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The journalists and workers who were at their workplace at the time lost their lives: Jelica Munitlak \u2013 makeup artist, Ksenija Bankovic \u2013 video mixer, Darko Stoimenovski \u2013 exchange technician, Nebojsa Stojanovic \u2013 master technician, Dragorad Dragojevic \u2013 security guard, Dragan Tasic \u2013 electrician, Aleksandar Deletic \u2013 cameraman, Slavisa Stevanovic \u2013 producer, Sinisa Medic \u2013 program designer, Ivan Stukalo \u2013 producer, Dejan Markovic \u2013 security guard, Milan Joksimovic \u2013 security guard, Branislav Jovanovic \u2013 master technician, Slobodan Jontic \u2013 technician, Milovan Jankovic \u2013 precision mechanic, and Tomislav Mitrovic \u2013 program director.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Only the then-director of RTS, Dragoljub Milanovic, was held accountable for this crime, as he did not follow the orders of the Federal Government to move workers and equipment to a safe location. For NATO, RTS was a legitimate target.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The case was investigated by a special commission of the Hague Tribunal, but it did not recommend that the Prosecution initiate criminal proceedings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
