The spring of 1999 left behind bloody memories that still live on. Many young people gave their lives for the fatherland then, and although in their full strength, they did not return to their homes. One of them was Darko Milo\u0161evi\u0107 from Ljig, then a twenty-one-year-old young man in whose trench two detonations echoed.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Although severely wounded, he tried to call out to two friends who were with him in the same trench. He was in very bad condition. His uniform was full of holes, as was the right side of his face. Darko fought for his life until the last moment. However, the wounds were too heavy for his heroic heart and he passed away \u2013 his war comrades recall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Darko’s honor, the street in Ljig where he lived was named after him. The small park located in that very street across from his house is adorned with his bust. At the initiative of his brother, in the spring of 2006, with the help of neighbors and the municipality of Ljig, swings, seesaws, and climbing frames for children were built, and lighting was also installed. The park is never empty because the street where it is located is full of little ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-In our neighborhood, almost every house has three children or more, which is very rare today, not only in Ljig, which is small, but in all of Serbia. We older people who grew up in this street and park know who Darko Milo\u0161evi\u0107 was, but we must teach the children when they grow up so they know what kind of hero from their street he was. He was our fellow citizen, neighbor, and friend, and he sacrificed his life for our better tomorrow. All of us parents are obliged to inform the children who the young man was whose name this park bears \u2013 says Predrag Uskokovi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Darko was born in 1978 in Ljig. During the NATO aggression on the FRY, he was in the 125th Motorized Brigade. Despite being wounded in the leg, in the Prizren hospital where he was recovering, he insisted on being returned to his position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
