The Slovenian intelligence agency has \u201cunequivocally confirmed the activity of foreign influence\u201d on the parliamentary elections held on Sunday, the government announced today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement issued after a session of the National Security Council, the government said that the Slovenian Intelligence and Security Agency (SOVA) \u201cpresented concrete activities of a foreign para-intelligence agency as well as contacts with Slovenian entities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cEvidence collected in the country and abroad has already been handed over to the relevant law enforcement authorities, the prosecutor\u2019s office and the police,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The statement did not specify which \u201cpara-intelligence agency\u201d was involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The elections on Sunday ended without a clear winner. With more than 99 percent of the votes counted, the liberal Freedom Movement of Prime Minister Robert Golob won 29 seats in the 90-seat parliament, while the opposition right-wing Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS) won 28 seats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the election campaign, videos were published that appear to show secretly recorded individuals linked to the government boasting about their political connections. A group of activists and journalists said the videos were leaked in order to influence voters. Slovenian authorities have also opened an investigation into this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The allegations further claim that, based on collected intelligence materials, the SDS and a private foreign agency are connected to those recordings. SDS leader Janez Jan\u0161a admitted that he had contacts with an adviser from the Israeli private intelligence agency \u201cBlack Cube,\u201d but denied doing anything illegal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Vojko Volk, State Secretary for National and International Security, said last week that representatives of \u201cBlack Cube\u201d visited Slovenia four times in recent months, including a street in the capital Ljubljana where Jan\u0161a\u2019s party headquarters is located.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prime Minister Golob has called on the European Union to conduct an investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The \u201cBlack Cube\u201d agency stated in an email to the AP that it is \u201can intelligence firm that provides services exclusively to clients involved in business activities worldwide, to support litigation, arbitration and in cases of white-collar crime.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As stated, \u201cBlack Cube\u201d obtains legal advice in every area in which it operates to ensure the legality of its activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCorruption is a phenomenon that harms economies and prevents legitimate business activity. Black Cube will continue to uncover embezzlement, corruption and asset misappropriation in all of its cases globally, as it has consistently done over the past 15 years,\u201d the agency said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement on March 20, the Slovenian government said that SOVA chief Jo\u0161ko Kadivik presented a full report on events between December 10 and 11, 2025, along with material evidence of links between three representatives of the private intelligence firm \u201cBlack Cube\u201d (Djora Ejland, Liron Tzur and Dan Zorela) and a visit to Trstenjakova Street No. 8 in Ljubljana, where the SDS headquarters is located.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kadivik \u201cpresented findings related to the activities of \u2018Black Cube\u2019 on the territory of Slovenia and abroad, which also demonstrate counterintelligence operations against the Republic of Slovenia and foreign interference in Slovenian elections,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
