Greece was hit last night by an earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale, the Athens Geodynamic Institute announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the moment of the earthquake, the service of the Great Canon was being held in the church, and the monks of Mount Athos and pilgrims went \u09ac\u09be\u0987\u09b0\u09c7 in fear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The epicenter of the earthquake was on Mount Athos, at a depth of ten kilometers and a distance of eight kilometers from Karyes, the administrative center of Mount Athos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The earthquake caused great disturbance and damage in the residences, sketes and cells on Mount Athos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As reported by Greek television ERT, the tremor was also felt in Thessaloniki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
