Former United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton testified today before members of the U.S. House of Representatives as part of the congressional investigation into convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, and has now shared her full opening statement before the House Oversight Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She states that she had no knowledge of the criminal activities of Jeffrey Epstein and his associates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI had no idea about their criminal activities. I do not remember ever meeting Mr. Epstein,\u201d Hillary said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Clinton also called on politicians to question Donald Trump under oath regarding Epstein.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIf this Committee is truly serious about uncovering the truth about Epstein\u2019s trafficking-related crimes, it would not rely on numerous media outlets to obtain answers from our current president about his involvement, but would instead directly question him under oath about the tens of thousands of appearances of his name in Epstein\u2019s files,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI never flew on his private plane nor visited his island, home, or offices,\u201d Clinton said during her testimony before members of the United States House of Representatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She assessed that Epstein was a \u201cdisgusting person,\u201d but also that he was \u201cfar from alone.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to her, \u201clike any decent person,\u201d she was horrified when she heard about his crimes, but also pointed out that the investigative procedures were not transparent and were biased.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe investigation (of the oversight committee) was supposed to assess the way the government handled the investigations, but eight law enforcement officials were subpoenaed and most were allowed to submit statements saying they had no information they could provide,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She assessed that such an investigation was designed to protect \u201cone political party and one public official,\u201d rather than to \u201cseek justice\u201d for the victims and survivors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMy heart breaks for the victims. And I am angry on their behalf,\u201d Clinton said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She recalled that on January 13 she swore before the congressional oversight committee that she knew nothing about the criminal activities of Jeffrey Epstein or his associate Ghislaine Maxwell, or about the investigations into them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Clinton expressed the opinion that if the Committee truly wants to launch a real investigation, it would ask Attorney General Pam Bondi and Secretary of State Marco Rubio to testify about why the Trump administration is \u201cabandoning survivors\u201d and working in favor of human traffickers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA Committee that seeks to stop human trafficking would try to understand what concrete steps are necessary to fix the system that allowed Epstein to get away with his crimes in 2008. A Committee led by elected officials committed to transparency would ensure the full release of all files. It would ensure that lawful redaction of those files protects victims and survivors, not powerful individuals and political allies. It would investigate reports that the Department of Justice withheld FBI interviews in which survivors accuse President Trump of heinous crimes,\u201d Clinton stated in her testimony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
