Iran is ready to do \u201cwhatever is necessary\u201d to reach a nuclear agreement with the United States, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi said today, ahead of the expected continuation of talks between representatives of the two countries later this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe want to do whatever is necessary to make it happen. We will enter the negotiating room in Geneva with full sincerity and goodwill. If there is political will on all sides, I believe an agreement can be reached as soon as possible,\u201d Ravanchi told Iranian media, as reported by CNN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The U.S. and Iran have held two rounds of indirect talks in Oman and Switzerland, with a third round expected on Thursday in Geneva.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Iranian official said that any American attack on Iran would be a \u201cmajor gamble\u201d and would affect the entire region, reiterating that his country would respond \u201cin accordance with its defense plans.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Asked whether Iran\u2019s ballistic missile program, or any other issues, would be discussed in the negotiations, Ravanchi said that the \u201conly topic\u201d of the upcoming talks is the \u201cnuclear issue.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
