Italian police smashed a dangerous crew that robbed ATMs throughout Italy using explosives, bombs ready for use were found<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A movie-like action by the Italian police took place on Monday at dawn, when a dangerous criminal group suspected of blowing up over 20 ATMs was broken up, and handcuffs were placed on four Italians and one thirty-year-old citizen of Serbia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Italian media, three suspects were immediately taken to prison, while the remaining two are defending themselves from freedom and the investigation against them is still ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-It is an extremely well-organized group, with clearly divided roles and precisely planned actions – says a source close to the investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The gang used a special explosive device that is considered one of the most dangerous means for robbing ATMs in the underworld. It is a metal device with a cylindrical tip, filled with almost half a kilogram of gunpowder, which is activated by a fuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-The device is inserted into a previously drilled hole on the ATM and in just a few moments a powerful explosion occurs that blows away the protection and opens the safe with the money. When the explosion occurs, banknotes fly everywhere – the interlocutor explains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Investigators suspect that the gang is responsible for as many as twenty robberies on the territory of Italy. All the suspects lived in a working-class settlement, an area that has been known to the police for a long time due to drug trafficking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the investigation, the Italian police managed to prevent new attacks as well. In one of the cases, two explosive devices ready for activation were found in a vehicle parked near an ATM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-A possible tragedy was avoided by this, considering that there were people on the streets at that moment – the source points out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Investigators say that the action is not over and that they are intensively searching for possible accomplices and additional members of this criminal network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
