The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vu\u010di\u0107, was presented today in Belgrade with the Order of the Holy New Martyrs of Biha\u0107-Petrovac, which was handed to him by the Bishop of the Biha\u0107-Petrovac Serbian Orthodox Church, Sergije.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vu\u010di\u0107 stated that he does not receive this recognition as a personal exaltation, but as a seal of spiritual togetherness and as a testimony that everyone, from their own place, is called to carry the burden of the times together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Receiving this distinction, I feel that it exceeds every personal measure. It is a call for even greater responsibility. Everything we did, we did because of faith, love, and hope for our people and their future,” the president wrote, among other things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bishop Sergije presented the Order of the Holy New Martyrs of Biha\u0107-Petrovac to Vu\u010di\u0107 “for the demonstrated charity and great love for that diocese and the Rmanj monastery,” according to the statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who is Bishop Sergije<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Bishop Sergije of Biha\u0107-Petrovac has been known from before for statements in which he elevates President Vu\u010di\u0107 to a deity, so much so that he even compared him to Jesus Christ himself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bishop Sergije (Karanovi\u0107) of Biha\u0107-Petrovac from the Rmanj monastery in Martin Brod in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in recent years, parallel to his hymns of praise for Vu\u010di\u0107, has criticized “certain media” and the “second Serbians,” specifically everyone who does not agree with the president’s policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This bishop is also famous for the open letters he often publishes, in which the main character is frequently the president of Serbia himself. In a letter published back in 2023 on the website of the Diocese of Biha\u0107-Petrovac, Sergije wrote a kind of ode to the president of the republic, so it is no surprise that he decorated him today with the Order of the New Martyrs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Who cursed Aleksandar Vu\u010di\u0107, so that, in addition to all the pressures from Western and Eastern sides, to those coming from the satellite government of Albin Kurti, he must still suffer blows from within, from those who should be his own, to strengthen him with support, at least while he is at the head of the state?” Sergije wrote at the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He then compared Vu\u010di\u0107 to Kara\u0111or\u0111e and Milo\u0161 Obrenovi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We cut off Kara\u0111or\u0111e’s head, and later glorified him in stories and songs. We exiled Milo\u0161 Obrenovi\u0107 from Serbia, took away his power, only to later call him Milo\u0161 the Great, because he saw what we did not know how to, because he knew what we did not know,” wrote Sergije, obviously a great admirer of the president’s character and work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, none of these comparisons can measure up to when he equated Vu\u010di\u0107 with Christ and wrote in his letter titled “The Crucifixion of Aleksandar Vu\u010di\u0107” in 2020:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As long as they crucify Aleksandar Vu\u010di\u0107, I know that things have started well for us, that we are making progress, that we are where we are. When they go silent, I will know it is not as it should be, that we are disappearing and that we will be no more. Vu\u010di\u0107’s crucifixion is our resurrection!”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although this letter shocked part of the public, only four days after its publication, the Bishop of Biha\u0107-Petrovac and Rmanj Sergije, in the Rmanj monastery, received Danilo Vu\u010di\u0107, the son of the president of Serbia. He then thanked the delegation from Serbia for the visit and emphasized that they “show selfless love and care for their people in Krajina.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
