Serbian President Aleksandar Vu\u010di\u0107<\/strong> stated that Serbia is following its European path while protecting its interests and doing what is best for the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Vu\u010di\u0107 expressed gratitude to the United States for several reasons: halting strategic talks with Pristina, granting an operational license for NIS, not placing Serbia on the visa blacklist for the diaspora\u2014which he described as a political signal\u2014and resolving matters with Republika Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina without humiliating it. However, he questioned where Serbia would go if it were not on the European path.<\/p>\n\n\n\n “Do you think I\u2019m stupid not to understand whether European power will rise or fall? It will fall, that\u2019s certain. Europe\u2019s power will decline, you don\u2019t need to be smart to see that,” said Vu\u010di\u0107, adding that Serbia has no other place to live and questioning whether it could gain anything by claiming an eastern path instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He noted that Serbia has a free trade agreement with China and maintains excellent relations with the country, which he described as the most Serbia can do in that regard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n “We are on the European path, that is the policy of this country. Perhaps we might change it one day, which we don\u2019t believe we will, but if we do, we must take it to the people in elections,” Vu\u010di\u0107 said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
