Alex Preti has been identified as the man who was fatally wounded by federal agents in Minneapolis in an incident that occurred today during protests in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The man killed by Border Patrol agents was identified as 37-year-old Alex Preti. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O\u2019Hara stated that Preti was a resident of Minneapolis and a U.S. citizen, with a record containing only traffic violations. He also possessed a valid permit to carry a firearm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Preti was a medical technician in an intensive care unit and worked for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2011 and was born in Illinois.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Federal Government Employees Union (AFGE Local 704) issued a statement expressing outrage over the \u201ckilling of their member by federal agents.\u201d They emphasized that Preti had dedicated his life to caring for veterans and called for an immediate, independent investigation, urging senators to withhold funding from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
