White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said today that the military activities of European countries in Greenland have not changed the intentions of U.S. President Donald Trump for the Arctic island to become U.S. territory, CNN reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI do not think that European troops influence the president\u2019s decision-making, nor his goal regarding Greenland,\u201d Leavitt emphasized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Leavitt assessed that the meeting between U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio with the foreign ministers of Denmark and Greenland was \u201cproductive.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She stated that the two delegations agreed to form a working group that will conduct technical talks on the acquisition of Greenland, adding that the talks could be organized every two to three weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe White House has made it clear that the president\u2019s views on the acquisition of Greenland are a national security priority. Trump wants the United States to obtain Greenland because he believes it is in the interest of our national security,\u201d Leavitt reiterated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Denmark has warned that an attack on Greenland would mean the end of NATO, CNN recalls, adding that Germany, Sweden, France, Norway, and Finland have confirmed they will send their troops to the island to participate in a joint exercise with Denmark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
