Kosovo has begun accepting migrants that the United States of America (USA) wants to deport, in accordance with an agreement with the administration of President Donald Trump, Prime Minister Albin Kurti said, AFP reports today.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kurti said that Kosovo is accepting people the USA does not want to keep on its territory, stating that one or two people have already arrived in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the agreement reached in June, Kosovo can receive up to 50 migrants, and the agreement was concluded for a period of one year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The government in Pri\u0161tina previously stated that this arrangement expresses “lasting gratitude to the United States for its support since the declaration of independence in 2008.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kurti took office in February, but his government has since fallen, and snap elections will be held on December 28, the French agency reminds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, the United States of America sent harsh criticism to Kurti’s party, accusing it of undermining the stability of Kosovo by preventing a Serbian political party from participating in the December elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kosovo has also ratified an agreement with Denmark under which foreign prisoners convicted in that country will be able to serve their sentences in prisons in Kosovo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
