US President Donald Trump said today that the \u20ac120 million fine imposed by the European Union’s technology regulators on the X company of American billionaire Elon Musk is “atrocious.”<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that he does not understand how European regulators can justify this move.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Europe is going in some bad directions – Trump told reporters at a White House event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump said he expects to receive a complete report on the EU’s fine for Musk’s social platform X by the end of the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-I don’t see how they can do that. Europe must be very careful – Trump said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that Musk had not called him to ask for help on the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Sunday, Elon Musk called for the abolition of the European Union, after the EU fined his social platform X \u20ac120 million for violating transparency laws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main lawsuit against the X platform was brought under the Digital Services Act (DSA), the new EU law on content moderation. Following a two-year investigation, the European Commission (EC) ruled against the X network for three violations of the law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was determined that the blue checkmark verification was misleading because users could simply pay for the option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was also determined that there was a lack of transparency regarding advertisers on the site, which violated protection against fraud and illegal promotions, and that researchers were denied access to data that should be public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first violation resulted in a fine of 45 million euros, the second 35 million, and the third 40 million euros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
