Under the slogan \u201cSvoj na svome,\u201d the digital platform for registering illegal buildings\u2014of which there are an estimated five million in Serbia\u2014was officially launched this morning at 4:00 a.m., RTS reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This simplified procedure will last exactly two months, and citizens have three options for submitting applications. Registration can be done through the online platform, by visiting any municipality, or at counters in more than 580 branches of \u201cPo\u0161ta Srbije.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The necessary documents include a valid ID card or passport, as well as any proof of ownership, such as a contract, gift, inheritance decision, or court ruling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Additionally, the applicant must provide the cadastral parcel number and basic information about the building, such as its type, size, and number of floors, and must sign a statement under criminal and material liability confirming the accuracy of the data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Citizens are not required to obtain technical documentation about installations, and it is also possible to register buildings constructed on someone else\u2019s land, with the obligation to resolve land ownership at a later stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The obligation to register applies to all buildings, including auxiliary structures, garages, and sheds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To assist citizens who are not familiar with modern technologies, 2,500 clerks have been trained in \u201cPo\u0161ta Srbije,\u201d RTS writes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They will fill out the electronic applications on behalf of users, while all decisions and documents will be delivered to post office counters, where citizens will be able to pick them up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The cost of legalization varies depending on the location and ranges from 100 to 1,000 euros, payable in dinar equivalent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Recipients of social assistance, persons with disabilities, veterans, single parents, and families with three or more children are exempt from payment, provided that the registered property is their only real estate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Minister of Construction Aleksandra Sofronijevi\u0107, the goal is to resolve a decades-long problem and establish an orderly record of ownership, which will enable citizens to legally sell their properties or use them as collateral for mortgages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The law prescribes strict measures for buildings that cannot be legalized, so structures located in protected areas or on public land will be removed or transferred to state ownership, officials say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The deadline for registration may be extended for up to one year only for citizens who present proof of justified delay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
