The owner of X, formerly Twitter, Elon Musk, harshly criticized the EU on his account over the decision and policies related to freedom of speech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Musk also called for the \u201cabolition of the EU\u201d and for \u201creturning power to the people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The news was first announced by X\u2019s head of product, Nikita Bier, who publicly stated that the European Commission\u2019s advertising account had been shut down. The administration of Donald Trump has for some time openly criticized both the Digital Services Act and the Digital Markets Act, claiming that these rules are directly targeted against American tech companies such as Google, Amazon, and Meta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Latnick has already threatened to maintain 50 percent tariffs on European steel and aluminum if the European Union does not ease its digital regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance went a step further, claiming that the fine was imposed because X allegedly refuses to participate in censorship.
