The new Mayor of North Mitrovica, Milan Radojevi\u0107, stated that the mayors of the four municipalities in the north of Kosovo and Metohija (KiM), after taking over their duties from the Albanian mayors yesterday, found the condition of the municipal buildings to be catastrophic because, as he stated, items of exceptional value were missing, and Orthodox icons were desecrated.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“My fellow mayors found a sad, disappointing, catastrophic situation in the municipal buildings, which shows Pristina’s attitude towards the Serbian people and the citizens of these four municipalities. You know that the building in the Zve\u010dan municipality is in extremely bad condition, a catastrophic state, that paintings of exceptional value are missing, and also that icons have been damaged, and the eyes of the saints on those icons have been cut out,” Radojevi\u0107 told TV Prva.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that members of the Kosovo Police were housed in the municipal building in North Mitrovica and stated that representatives of the Serbian List had insisted in the previous period that they leave the building and be accommodated in police stations, where they should be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“So this is an indicator of how Kurti, his government, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs treated the citizens in the north of Kosovo and Metohija\u2014that they used municipal buildings as police bases, as police barracks, so to speak. And everyone knows they used the police to implement decisions that had no legal basis,” Radojevi\u0107 stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking about the handover of power, he said that the technical part proceeded without major problems, but that it was preceded by extremely extensive preparations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Radojevi\u0107, representatives of the Serbian List had several very important conversations with representatives of the international community, the KFOR Commander, and NATO representatives before the handover, and they warned about the possibility of the process being obstructed by Pristina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I must admit that the citizens in the north of Kosovo and Metohija, especially in these four municipalities of ours, have been waiting three years for this day when the legal, legitimate, democratically elected mayors and their councilors will take office in the municipalities and take over the leadership of the municipalities in the way our citizens want and how they voted in the elections,” Radojevi\u0107 pointed out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He stated that the new leadership of the North Mitrovica municipality will work in the interest of absolutely all citizens in the municipality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Until 2022, we proudly emphasized that the Municipality of North Mitrovica was the only urban multiethnic environment in KiM. We want to restore that again, to stop a minority from influencing the life of the majority,” Radojevi\u0107 said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When asked to comment on the fact that the Central Election Commission in Pristina initially decided not to verify the Serbian List for the December 28th elections, Radojevi\u0107 emphasized that it is clear to all citizens in KiM that Albin Kurti is putting pressure on the Serbian List because he is aware that the party has absolute and unreserved support and that it will achieve an absolute victory in the upcoming elections, winning all ten mandates guaranteed for the Serbian community in the Pristina parliament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We expect that Kurti will continue with pressure on the Serbian List because he has no political or economic program that would help Albanians improve their lives. His single program is pressure on the Serbian community, on the Serbian List, but, as in the previous period, he will receive an adequate response from the Serbian people in KiM in these elections as well,” Radojevi\u0107 concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
