Just before the start of jury selection in the trial of Brian Walshe (50), on Tuesday, November 18, the accused pleaded guilty to two lesser counts \u2014 intentional concealment of a human body contrary to state laws and deceiving the police, according to CBS News Boston, WCVB, and MassLive.com.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prosecutors claim that Walshe’s actions led to the burning of the remains of his wife Ana (39), WCVB reports. Although he pleaded guilty to the aforementioned offenses, Walshe still denies killing his wife and has not accepted responsibility on that count.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last week, Judge Diane Freniere announced that based on a hospital report, Walshe was found mentally competent to stand trial, Fox News reports. Jury selection officially began on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ana Walshe was last seen alive on New Year’s Eve 2022 at the family home in Cohasset, while her disappearance was reported on January 4, when she failed to show up for work in Washington, police announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The investigation is focused on the suspicion that Walshe killed his wife believing she was cheating on him, and authorities allege he disposed of the body in containers across the state, writes MassLive.com.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trial was originally scheduled for October but was postponed after Judge Freniere ordered Walshe to be transferred to Bridgewater State Hospital for a mental evaluation, having previously been assaulted in jail, Fox News reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At a preparatory hearing held on Monday, November 18, the judge, prosecution, and defense considered the evidence that will be presented to the jury, WCVB states. Among them are Walshe’s alleged internet searches on identifying human remains, dismembering a body, and “ten ways to get rid of a dead body if you absolutely must.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The prosecution also wants to present searches for pornography with the theme of “cheating wives” to the jury, while the defense strongly opposes the inclusion of this evidence in the proceedings, MassLive.com reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
