Milan Ja\u0107imovi\u0107, the 16-year-old son of bus operator Milomir Ja\u0107imovi\u0107, has ended his hunger strike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Novi Sad, the second-largest city in Serbia, bus operator Milomir Ja\u0107imovi\u0107 and his 16-year-old son began a hunger strike on November 10, demanding that their buses be returned and their fines annulled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His son ended the strike three days later, on November 13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI managed to convince the child, I didn\u2019t want my child to be part of this at all, both the lawyer and I talked to him, he will be here next to me, and we\u2019ll see tomorrow,\u201d Ja\u0107imovi\u0107 said, adding that President Aleksandar Vu\u010di\u0107 should prepare \u201cmore blood pressure monitors\u201d for tomorrow because \u201cI certainly won\u2019t be feeling well.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Milomir Ja\u0107imovi\u0107 did not want his son to join him in the hunger strike, which he also stated today for our newspaper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m the one in this situation and he shouldn\u2019t be hunger-striking. After all, he\u2019s my child and it breaks my heart. But I raised him from two and a half months old and now it\u2019s a bit complicated. This child is attached to me. He is very mature, I wasn\u2019t what he is now even at 30. He hoped someone would address us, at least talk to us, but so far no one has,\u201d Ja\u0107imovi\u0107 said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Milomir Ja\u0107imovi\u0107 transported students and other people to several anti-government demonstrations in Serbia using his buses, and he has been detained multiple times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He accuses the authorities of seizing all his vehicles because of his support for anti-government protests, and says the fines he must pay exceed all his capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s not just about me and my son, but also my drivers and their families, we have no vehicles and nothing to work with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI have to pay obligations to the state, it\u2019s embarrassing to even say it anymore, but I\u2019m a dead man, I chose this, I don\u2019t have many options,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
