Radoslav Repac, the former Commander of the Police Brigade, has been appointed as the Commander of the Gendarmerie. He is a police colonel whom the wider public saw on the streets during protests and is reproached for the excessive use of force against students and citizens, as well as for double standards when it comes to dealing with protesting citizens compared to supporters of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS).<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the appointment of Igor \u017dmiri\u0107 to the head of the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit (SAJ), it was the Gendarmerie’s turn. The current regime of Aleksandar Vu\u010di\u0107 has been facing a crisis for months, which has led to personnel changes in the Serbian police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spasoje Vulevi\u0107, the long-time commander of the SAJ, was replaced, after which he decided to take early retirement. Vulevi\u0107 decided to take this step after being told that he was not being counted on and that President Vu\u010di\u0107 did not want to have an armed formation over which he did not have complete control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was only a matter of days before a new commander would be appointed, and it had been speculated for some time that it would be \u017dmiri\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Excessive Force<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

After the SAJ, it was time for changes in the Gendarmerie, and Radoslav Repac, whom the public often saw on the streets of Serbia in recent months, was appointed as the Commander.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The public reproaches the former Commander of the Police Brigade, and now the Gendarmerie, for violating laws and regulations and for the excessive use of force against protesting students and citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As our portal wrote, Repac, now the former Commander of the Police Brigade, allegedly managed the police action on King Alexander Boulevard in July, when a large number of students sustained injuries during the police intervention and when, as the students announced, the autonomy of the University was violated because police officers tried to enter the building of the Faculty of Law, but were stopped by the students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The intervention started out of the blue, and numerous citizens sustained injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Repac also managed the last in a series of actions when members of the Police Brigade “arrested” the bus of the carrier Milomir Ja\u0107imovi\u0107, which has been driving students for months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two Faces of the Law<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

It should also be noted that the public reproaches him for different treatment when it comes to supporters of the Serbian Progressive Party compared to protesting citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is evidenced by the situation that occurred last week, when the KTV television team, including journalist Nemanja \u0160arovi\u0107, was attacked at an SNS rally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was attacked by former handball player Vladimir Mandi\u0107, as well as the people around him; however, members of the Police Brigade did not react or detain the perpetrators, even though they even threw firecrackers at people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another video was soon posted showing that Vladimir Repac was near the attack and also did not react.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Precisely because of this, his statement from last week in front of the Assembly is inappropriate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“If we had not come here, you would have fought among yourselves. We came to separate you and them. Where we are, there is peace! Think about that. Meaning, wherever we appear, there is peace,” Repac told one of the war veterans, pointing his finger at him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, it seems that this is not quite the case. Citizens were targeted with pyrotechnic devices in front of the members of the Police Brigade, and instead of reacting and detaining the SNS supporters, a shocking move followed \u2013 the Police Brigade arrested the people who were attacked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Savamala Case<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In the “Lustration File” published by the “Kreni-promeni” movement, they recalled his connection with the events in Savamala in 2016, when unknown persons wearing balaclavas demolished buildings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the claims of that movement, Repac was in charge of ensuring that the police did not respond to calls from citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
