U.S. President Donald Trump has pardoned several names from a long list of his political allies, due to their support or involvement in alleged plans to overturn the 2020 presidential election results, according to a statement by Ed Martin, a Justice Department lawyer in charge of pardons, reports CNN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the proclamation published by Martin on the X platform late Sunday, the names of numerous prominent figures were listed, including Trump\u2019s attorneys Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, and former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, as well as dozens of others, reports Danas<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThis proclamation ends a grave national injustice committed against the American people following the 2020 presidential election and continues the process of national reconciliation,\u201d the document states, dated November 7 and apparently bearing the president\u2019s signature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The proclamation includes a \u201cfull, complete, and unconditional pardon\u201d for all those listed, including some of the president\u2019s co-defendants who were charged in Georgia for attempting to overturn Trump\u2019s 2020 election loss, CNN reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Presidential pardons apply exclusively to federal charges, not to state or local ones.
