Slobodan Petrovi\u0107, a member of the Srbija Centar party, asked Minister of Defense Bratislav Ga\u0161i\u0107 a question in the Assembly on Thursday as to whether it is true that reassignments have begun in the Serbian Army for officers and non-commissioned officers who support protests on social media, like posts that support them, or participate in them along with their family members, writes Vreme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two sources of “Vreme,” from Belgrade and Novi Sad, confirmed the information, as people from their units received a sudden reassignment “due to service needs,” specifically to the 4th Brigade in Vranje and the 2nd in Kraljevo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“In my unit, two superiors received reassignment orders ‘overnight.’ They did not hide that they support the protests and published this on their Facebook profiles. These are young, capable people who have freed themselves from fear and think for themselves. I wouldn’t be surprised if they submit a request to leave military service. The Military Security Agency (VBA) has acquired a sophisticated program and now monitors social networks more than it deals with crime in the army and counter-intelligence protection, which is their primary job. Posts by their family members are also being monitored,” says a major from Belgrade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
