The police seizure of the last, eighth bus represents retaliation for engagement and assistance to students and citizens who have been protesting over the past year demanding accountability for the collapse of the shelter, said today Milan Ja\u0107imovi\u0107, the son of transport operator Milomir Ja\u0107imovi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He told the Beta agency that they have been left without means to work since the police seized their last bus at a service station where an extraordinary technical inspection was carried out yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOne is in the Novi Sad public transport company, three are in Belgrade at Maki\u0161, and now here\u2019s another one. I don\u2019t know where they\u2019ll take it, but it was seized by Interpol,\u201d said Ja\u0107imovi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He reminded that two of their buses had previously been damaged when windshields were smashed and tires slashed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that after the seizure of the buses and their exclusion from traffic, police officers \u201copenly told them\u201d yesterday that they would prevent them from driving to protests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYesterday, the police told us that none of our buses are welcome in Belgrade and that every one entering Belgrade will be confiscated. They repeated that again today when we went to get the keys. They\u2019ve taken everything they could; yesterday we were fined more than 400,000 dinars, and who knows how much more they\u2019ll write today. This is retaliation meant to shut us down,\u201d said Milan Ja\u0107imovi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He and his father went to the police station again today to obtain confirmation that the bus had been seized under an Interpol warrant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cToday we were already at the traffic police station in \u0160ajka\u0161ka Street in Novi Sad, where we collected the keys, only to be met again at the service station where yesterday\u2019s extraordinary technical inspection was performed by a traffic police patrol that did not allow us to leave the premises or drive the bus away,\u201d said Ja\u0107imovi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
