The Higher Public Prosecutor\u2019s Office (HPP) in Belgrade announced that early this morning a 24-year-old citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina attempted to kill police officer V.V. with a knife at the Savski Venac Police Station. After issuing warnings and verbal cautions, the officer fired several shots from his service weapon into the air and the floor, one of which struck the suspect in the leg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The suspect was hospitalized at the Military Medical Academy for surgery, after which she will be detained for up to 48 hours due to reasonable suspicion that she committed the criminal offense of \u201cattempted murder,\u201d the HPP stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is suspected that around 4 a.m., M.A. arrived at the entrance of the Savski Venac Police Station and started an argument with police officer V.V., demanding that \u201cthe police go to \u0106acilend.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Seeing that the woman had a knife, the officer called for backup, and when the on-duty officers arrived, he approached M.A. with a baton. At that moment, she attempted to stab him with the knife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
V.V. dodged and ran out of the station, but M.A. followed him with the knife in her hand. The officer then drew his service pistol and, after issuing warnings and cautions, fired several shots into the air and the ground, one of which struck the suspect in the leg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police officer V.V. was found to have sustained minor bodily injuries at a medical facility and was released.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The suspect suffered a serious bodily injury in the form of a gunshot wound to the thigh and will undergo surgery, the statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following the conducted checks, it was determined that M.A. entered Serbia on September 29, 2025, and does not have a registered residence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the HPP, the initial findings of the investigation indicate that the police officer acted fully in accordance with the law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
