On that day, under tons of concrete debris, the following people lost their lives: Sara Firi\u0107 (6), Valentina Firi\u0107 (10), and \u0110or\u0111e Firi\u0107 (53)<\/strong> from Kovilj; Milica Adamovi\u0107 (6), Sanja \u0106iri\u0107 Arbutina (35), and Mileva Karanovi\u0107 (76)<\/strong>, all from Ka\u0107. Also killed were Nemanja Komar (17)<\/strong> from Stepanovi\u0107evo, Milo\u0161 Milosavljevi\u0107 (21)<\/strong> from Kni\u0107anin, Stefan Hrka (27)<\/strong> from Belgrade, An\u0111ela Ruman (20)<\/strong> from Stara Pazova, Goranka Raca (58)<\/strong> from Novi Sad, \u0110uro \u0160vonja (77)<\/strong> from Stepanovi\u0107evo, Vuka\u0161in Rakovi\u0107 (69)<\/strong> from Bukovac, and Vasko Sazdovski (46)<\/strong>, a citizen of North Macedonia. Anja Radonji\u0107 (24)<\/strong> from Para\u0107in died from severe injuries in the hospital on November 17, while Vuka\u0161in Crn\u010devi\u0107 (18)<\/strong> from Zmajevo, a high school student from Novi Sad, died on March 21 of this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Teodora Martinko<\/strong> survived the accident with serious injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Immediately after the collapse, the company Serbian Railways Infrastructure<\/strong> announced that the canopy had not been reconstructed, which was later confirmed by then-Prime Minister Milo\u0161 Vu\u010devi\u0107<\/strong>, who visited the site with Interior Minister Ivica Da\u010di\u0107<\/strong> and Novi Sad Mayor Milan \u0110uri\u0107<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s unbelievable that the canopy hasn\u2019t been renewed for 60 years. Even when the entire station was reconstructed, the canopy wasn\u2019t. Someone will have to explain why,\u201d said President Aleksandar Vu\u010di\u0107<\/strong> that same evening in a public address broadcast by Radio Television of Serbia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the evening of November 1<\/strong>, activists from the student organization STAV (Students Against Authoritarian Rule)<\/strong> held a candlelight vigil for the victims at Liberty Square.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the following day, citizens and opposition activists began organizing gatherings demanding accountability from officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minister of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure Goran Vesi\u0107<\/strong> resigned on November 5<\/strong>, stating that he was doing so \u201cfor moral reasons\u201d because the tragedy occurred within his ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI cannot accept blame for the death of 14 people because neither I nor my associates bear any responsibility for what happened,\u201d Vesi\u0107 said the previous day at a press conference, announcing his resignation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
