Also killed were <strong>Nemanja Komar (17)<\/strong> from Stepanovi\u0107evo, <strong>Milo\u0161 Milosavljevi\u0107 (21)<\/strong> from Kni\u0107anin, <strong>Stefan Hrka (27)<\/strong> from Belgrade, <strong>An\u0111ela Ruman (20)<\/strong> from Stara Pazova, <strong>Goranka Raca (58)<\/strong> from Novi Sad, <strong>\u0110uro \u0160vonja (77)<\/strong> from Stepanovi\u0107evo, <strong>Vuka\u0161in Rakovi\u0107 (69)<\/strong> from Bukovac, and <strong>Vasko Sazdovski (46)<\/strong>, a citizen of North Macedonia. <strong>Anja Radonji\u0107 (24)<\/strong> from Para\u0107in died from severe injuries in the hospital on November 17, while <strong>Vuka\u0161in Crn\u010devi\u0107 (18)<\/strong> from Zmajevo, a high school student from Novi Sad, died on March 21 of this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Teodora Martinko<\/strong> survived the accident with serious injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Immediately after the collapse, the company <strong>Serbian Railways Infrastructure<\/strong> announced that the canopy had not been reconstructed, which was later confirmed by then-Prime Minister <strong>Milo\u0161 Vu\u010devi\u0107<\/strong>, who visited the site with Interior Minister <strong>Ivica Da\u010di\u0107<\/strong> and Novi Sad Mayor <strong>Milan \u0110uri\u0107<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s unbelievable that the canopy hasn\u2019t been renewed for 60 years. Even when the entire station was reconstructed, the canopy wasn\u2019t. Someone will have to explain why,\u201d said <strong>President Aleksandar Vu\u010di\u0107<\/strong> that same evening in a public address broadcast by <strong>Radio Television of Serbia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the evening of <strong>November 1<\/strong>, activists from the student organization <strong>STAV (Students Against Authoritarian Rule)<\/strong> held a candlelight vigil for the victims at Liberty Square.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From the following day, citizens and opposition activists began organizing gatherings demanding accountability from officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Minister of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure Goran Vesi\u0107<\/strong> resigned on <strong>November 5<\/strong>, stating that he was doing so \u201cfor moral reasons\u201d because the tragedy occurred within his ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI cannot accept blame for the death of 14 people because neither I nor my associates bear any responsibility for what happened,\u201d Vesi\u0107 said the previous day at a press conference, announcing his resignation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-serbiantimes-info wp-block-embed-serbiantimes-info\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"3pqyYSSBcY\"><a href=\"https:\/\/serbiantimes.info\/pa-di-ste-beogradjani-emotivan-docek-poslednje-kolone-studenata-koji-su-pesacili-do-novog-sada-video\/\">&#8222;PA, DI STE BEOGRA\u0110ANI&#8220;: Emotivan do\u010dek poslednje kolone studenata koji su pe\u0161a\u010dili do Novog Sada! (VIDEO)&#147; &#8212; Serbiantimes.info\" src=\"https:\/\/serbiantimes.info\/pa-di-ste-beogradjani-emotivan-docek-poslednje-kolone-studenata-koji-su-pesacili-do-novog-sada-video\/embed\/#?secret=CyJwJc5NLL#?secret=3pqyYSSBcY\" data-secret=\"3pqyYSSBcY\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>On <strong>November 20<\/strong>, <strong>Minister of Trade Tomislav Momirovi\u0107<\/strong>, Vesi\u0107\u2019s predecessor in the construction ministry under whose mandate the reconstruction of the Novi Sad railway station \u2014 including the canopy \u2014 took place, also resigned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Goran Vesi\u0107<\/strong> and 11 others, including <strong>Jelena Tanaskovi\u0107<\/strong>, acting director of \u201cSerbian Railways Infrastructure\u201d who had resigned days earlier, were arrested on <strong>November 21<\/strong> in connection with the canopy collapse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further arrests were carried out on <strong>August 1<\/strong> of this year under orders from the <strong>Office of the Prosecutor for Organized Crime<\/strong>, whose investigation included <strong>15 people<\/strong>, among them <strong>Tomislav Momirovi\u0107<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among those arrested were Momirovi\u0107 and his former assistant <strong>Anita Dimoski<\/strong>, as well as <strong>Neboj\u0161a \u0160urlan<\/strong>, who served as acting general director of the public company <strong>Serbian Railways Infrastructure a.d.
