U.S. President Donald Trump said his administration has legal authority to strike vessels off Venezuela that he claims are carrying drugs, but added that he might address Congress if he decides to begin ground strikes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are allowed to do that and if we do it by land, I may again address Congress,\u201d Trump told reporters in the Oval Office of the White House.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He stated that the U.S. government is \u201cfully prepared\u201d to target drug traffickers on land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe will hit them very hard if they come by land. We will probably inform Congress and explain exactly what we are doing when it comes to the land. We don\u2019t have to do that, but I think\u2026 I would like to do that,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also said he could take \u201cvery serious action\u201d against Colombia because of its role in the international drug trade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
