Today, a Day of Mourning has been declared in Sremska Mitrovica due to the serious traffic accident that occurred on October 17 on the road between Sremska Mitrovica and Jarak, when a bus drove off the road and overturned into a canal.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three people lost their lives in the accident, while several dozen passengers sustained injuries, some of whom are still receiving hospital treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the Day of Mourning, flags on all state and public institutions have been lowered to half-mast, and all cultural, entertainment, and musical events have been cancelled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Radio and television programs are adapted to the spirit of mourning; no entertainment or folk music is broadcast, and the media expresses solidarity and piety towards the victims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The city authorities, together with their fellow citizens, have sent expressions of the deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and support to the injured who are recovering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
