(VIDEO)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em>Agents of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested a police officer in Hanover Park in a Chicago suburb on Thursday morning, accusing him of unlawfully residing in the US as an immigrant from Montenegro.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) states that the police officer, Radule Bojovi\u0107, overstayed his tourist visa, which expired back in 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a DHS statement, Bojovi\u0107 was &#8220;located during targeted immigration enforcement actions&#8221; as part of an ICE operation in the state of Illinois.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Hanover Park Police Department announced on Facebook in August that Bojovi\u0107 had recently graduated from the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy and begun &#8220;an intensive 15 weeks of field training and evaluation,&#8221; preparing to serve the local community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"ICE arrests suburban Chicago police officer, DHS says\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/q97VhPHCgLU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>CNN contacted the Hanover Park police for comment and also attempted to get in touch with Bojovi\u0107 himself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Radule Bojovi\u0107 has violated our country&#8217;s laws and has lived illegally in the United States for 10 years. What kind of police department gives criminal illegal immigrants badges and weapons? It is a criminal offense for foreigners even to possess a firearm. A police officer who is actively violating the law,&#8221; stated DHS Assistant Secretary, Trisha McLaughlin, to CNN on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We remind you that in September, ICE agents also arrested the superintendent of the largest school district in Iowa, accusing him of being illegally in the country since the early 2000s.
