One sight, in particular, has caught our attention on social media these days. The ground is so dry that it has cracked, with almost no water or fauna. Only the surrounding flora looks as it should. The scene is almost “cinematic,” like some setting for an apocalyptic film. However, the real truth behind these photographs is not “fiction” at all, but, unfortunately, a sad reality.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we learn, the issue concerns Veliki zaton lake near Majdanpek, which has been left without water. It has also been left without its fish stock\u2014by some estimates, as much as 700 kilograms. “Ist media” states that this happened due to a burst dam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Members of the Rudar Sports Fishermen’s Club in Majdanpek informed the authorities at Srbija\u0161ume about the problem, but there was no saving the fish. Water also drains through the limestone rocks, making a more permanent solution necessary, as about 500 kilograms of fish were lost in a similar way last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Nemanja Buzdimirovi\u0107, President of the Rudar Sports Fishermen’s Club in Majdanpek, pointed out for Televizija Bor, about three thousand pieces of fish, weighing around 700 kilograms, were lost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We would like the relevant ministries, Srbijavode, and Srbija\u0161ume to react. We hope that someone will try to solve this problem and save the lake. Various species of fish such as bream, white bream, buborak, ide, and capital specimens of carp have suffered on this occasion. As we were told by Srbija\u0161ume, this is millions in damages,” said Buzdimirovi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fishermen indicate that there is currently no official information about the damage incurred, nor a concrete plan on what to do now and how to protect and renew the lake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
