Authorities in Tennessee announced on Saturday that no survivors were found at the site of a massive explosion that occurred the day before at a rural factory. The blast took place at the Accurate Energetic Systems facility near Bucksnort, about 80 kilometers west of Nashville, shortly before 8:00 a.m. local time on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis stated at a press conference that a team of more than 300 investigators conducted a \u201cvery delicate, very methodical\u201d search of nearly every square inch of the facility but found no survivors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officials initially reported multiple fatalities and at least 18 missing persons. The sheriff conveyed how devastating the situation was, saying: \u201cWe consider this even more horrific than we initially thought\u2026 It\u2019s a tremendous loss. A great loss.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Due to the nature of the explosion, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) is on site conducting \u201crapid DNA testing\u201d to identify the remains of the victims. Sheriff Davis noted: \u201cWe\u2019re dealing with explosions. And I would say at this point, we\u2019re dealing with remains.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
