A large number of anecdotes have been preserved about Branislav Nu\u0161i\u0107, thanks to his contemporaries, and above all, his son-in-law, Milivoje Predi\u0107, the husband of Nu\u0161i\u0107\u2019s daughter Gita. He collected and published the book “Nu\u0161i\u0107 in Stories” which remains the best testimony to this day of what a great Serbian writer he was.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And this Serbian writer, comedian, journalist, diplomat, amateur photographer and founder of rhetoric in Serbia, was a man of the sharp pen and even sharper language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thus, an anecdote says, Branislav Nu\u0161i\u0107 once ended up in court. Why? Because, in the heat of an argument, he told some lady, forgotten today, that she was a cow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The comedian paid the court fine, but he could not resist \u2013 as he was leaving the courtroom, he asked the judge:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Mr. Judge, if I were to tell a cow that she is a lady, would I be punished then too?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The judge, probably completely confused, told him that he would not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nu\u0161i\u0107 then turned to the plaintiff and, as he was leaving the courtroom, tossed out:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Goodbye, Madam.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
