The Petroleum Industry of Serbia (NIS)<\/strong> submitted a new supplemented request to the administration in Washington before midnight for a delay of US sanctions, RTS<\/strong> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NIS is seeking a new license to be able to continue operating smoothly even after Wednesday, October 8<\/strong>, when the previous deferral of the full implementation of sanctions, which the United States is imposing due to the company’s majority Russian ownership, expires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So far, the sanctions have been deferred eight times: six times for a month, then at the end of September for just four days, until October 1, and finally for one more week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NIS had previously reiterated its request this month to be removed from the sanctions list, in which it allegedly offered to sell 11.3 percent of its shares<\/strong>, as well as an obligation to purchase a certain quantity of crude oil from the US.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“NIS also submitted a supplemented request on September 28 for removal from the SDN list (Specially Designated Nationals)<\/strong>, which is a lengthy and complex process, with the initial request having been sent on March 14 this year,” the oil company’s statement this morning said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
