<\/figure>\n\n\n\nFAREWELL TO THE CLERIC: The liturgy for Protosyncellus Filotej served by the metropolitan and the bishop<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Filotej was born on May 23, 1941, to father Rada\u0161in and mother Mileva Petrovi\u0107, from a devout family in the village of Lo\u0107ika near Rekovac, Serbia. As a young man, he left the world and took monastic vows at the Jo\u0161anica Monastery, where he began his life\u2019s struggle in prayer, obedience, and humility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n He received his monastic name after his protector, Saint Philotheus of Athos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n With the blessing of the late Bishop Sava (Vukovi\u0107), Father Filotej came to America, where he for some time served as a parish priest in a church in Arizona, as well as in Racine, Wisconsin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At last, he found his monastic home in the New Gra\u010danica Monastery, where he was a brother for many years until his repose.
