The President of Serbia<\/strong>, Aleksandar Vu\u010di\u0107<\/strong>, announced today that as part of the new law called “Finally, Our Own at Home<\/strong>,” the legalization for 80 percent of buildings in Serbia<\/strong> will amount to 100 euros<\/strong>, and the most expensive one will be an apartment on Terazije<\/strong> of 200 square meters<\/strong> for 1,000 euros<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“With a simple application, without complicated procedures in digital form, we will register all buildings and we will decide on ownership,” Vu\u010di\u0107<\/strong> said in a speech at the Palace of Serbia<\/strong>. He stated that there are 4.8 million<\/strong> buildings in Serbia<\/strong> that are being used without property registration and an occupancy permit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“These people cannot put those buildings under a mortgage, use loans, they cannot dispose of that property, and at the same time, property tax is not being paid, where the state loses,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He stated that the building legalization procedure will be carried out by the Spatial Planning Agency<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“You will have that information everywhere, you send one simple paper, and by the new year, within 60 days, you will have your legal building,” Vu\u010di\u0107<\/strong> said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said that as a result, loans will be more favorable because registered real estate can be used for mortgages, and apartments will become cheaper because properties that are currently illegal will become part of the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Novi Sad<\/strong>, Ni\u0161<\/strong>, Kragujevac<\/strong>…, cities that, together with their surroundings, have over 100,000<\/strong> inhabitants according to the census, for those places it will be from 100<\/strong> to 500 euros<\/strong>, but within the cities, in villages a maximum of 100 euros<\/strong>, in suburban parts a maximum of 200 euros<\/strong>, only in the center is determined by zones somewhat more,” Vu\u010di\u0107<\/strong> stated about the prices for legalizing buildings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that the state cannot be responsible for technical matters, for occupancy permits, but it can be responsible for property rights and that it will seize buildings if they continue to be built illegally, which it will give to schools or orphanages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
