The Petroleum Industry of Serbia (NIS) announced today that it has submitted a new request to the US Department of the Treasury for the issuance of a special license which postpones the full implementation of sanctions and enables the smooth performance of the company’s operational activities even after September 26, when the deadline stipulated by the previous license expires.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, on March 14, the company sent a request to the US Department of the Treasury to be removed from the SDN list (Specially Designated Nationals), which is a complex and long-lasting process, the statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is recalled that the full implementation of sanctions against the NIS company has been postponed on six occasions so far, based on the issued special licenses of the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) at the US Department of the Treasury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vu\u010di\u0107, stated that he fears that there will be no more postponements of the introduction of American sanctions against the Petroleum Industry of Serbia (NIS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I am afraid that there will be no more postponements and I am afraid that we will be in an extremely difficult situation,” he said for Blic TV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that during his stay in the US, where he will also meet with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, he will do his best to solve this problem and ask for help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
