Students of the Faculty of Sciences in Novi Sad claim that chemical analysis of tear gas shell remnants found on campus after the September 5 protest showed that CN gas was used on that occasion, and therefore demanded an urgent investigation into who was responsible. Professor at the Faculty of Medicine in Novi Sad, cardiologist Ilija Srdanovi\u0107, who was present at the protest, says that some toxic chemical agent was undoubtedly used on that occasion, and that he can confirm it from his own experience since he was only about ten meters away from uniformed police officers and gendarmerie when they found themselves \u201cin a cloud of that poisonous gas.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Students of the Faculty of Sciences in Novi Sad collected the shells fired at demonstrators during the September 5 protest in order to analyze what was used against the gathered citizens that night. They claim that instead of regular tear gas, CN gas, which is far more toxic, was used in Novi Sad that night, and Professor Ilija Srdanovi\u0107 told N1 that he firmly believes his colleagues who conducted the toxicological analysis did so in accordance with scientific methodology and came to irrefutable knowledge that toxic CN gas was used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI can personally confirm from my own experience since I was only about ten meters away from those young uniformed police officers and gendarmes who were helplessly falling to their knees when they found themselves in a cloud of that poisonous gas. I personally felt similar symptoms, as did everyone who was in that vicinity at the time. It is undeniable that some toxic chemical agent was used, and according to the information provided by the competent laboratories of the Faculty of Sciences in Novi Sad, it was CN gas,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reflecting on the events of that evening, he emphasized that he felt extremely unsafe, even though he was clearly marked as a member of the first aid team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe first aid team that night was ready to provide help to the injured, who were appearing in large numbers. Some of that aid was prevented by uniformed members of the Serbian police and gendarmerie, and some, as is very well known to the public, even ended up in custody for up to 48 hours because of our doctors, and that procedure against them has still not been suspended,\u201d said Srdanovi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also reminded that on September 5, 2025, in Novi Sad, medical workers suffered double repression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNot only were medical workers beaten, but the director of the Institute for Emergency Medical Assistance handed dismissal notices to three employees based on false accusations that, by failing to provide assistance, they committed certain professional oversights which resulted in their dismissal,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that in the court proceedings regarding all these events, it is likely that very soon and efficiently all his colleagues will be acquitted of charges, and those who were dismissed will be reinstated to their jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
