The High Court in Novi Pazar today sentenced Aldina Lakota (40) to life imprisonment for the murder of her mother-in-law B.L. (66) from Dubnica near Sjenica, which is the first case in Serbia that a woman has been sentenced to that penalty, Radio Sto plus reported.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

She was found guilty of aggravated murder, and in the explanation of the sentence, the president of the court panel, Radan Ni\u0161avi\u0107, said that Lakota committed the crime in a cruel and insidious manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the findings of experts, Lakota inflicted 121 knife wounds on her mother-in-law, 50 of which were to the head and neck. She committed the crime using information from her minor daughter to be sure that B.L. would be alone in the house when she attacked her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was also stated in the indictment represented by the Higher Prosecutor Adnan Ba\u0107i\u0107anin who in his closing argument asked for Lakota to be punished with life imprisonment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The crime was committed on May 28 of last year, and the accused then walked to Sjenica, and then, using two taxis, to Zlatibor and U\u017eice, where she was arrested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since this is a first-instance verdict, the defendant’s defense attorney has the right to appeal to the Appellate Court in Kragujevac.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to information from Radio Sto plus, today’s verdict of the High Court in Novi Pazar is also the first one that sentenced someone to life imprisonment in the territory covered by the Kragujevac Appellate Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
