Minister of Internal Affairs Ivica Da\u010di\u0107 denied the public claims regarding the retirement of Colonel Spasoje Vulevi\u0107, the longtime commander of the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit (SAJ). <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement, Da\u010di\u0107 said that Vulevi\u0107 met the conditions for retirement on March 23, 2024, when he was approved to continue his service. Now, Colonel Vulevi\u0107 has decided to retire, and it is his personal request, without any outside influence, Da\u010di\u0107 stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the statement, Da\u010di\u0107 called the claims about Vulevi\u0107’s retirement at the request of President Aleksandar Vu\u010di\u0107 “disgusting falsehoods and lies.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Regarding the disgusting falsehoods and lies, I want to state very clearly that Colonel Spasoje Vulevi\u0107 met the conditions for retirement on March 23, 2024, which is before my term began, and as far as I know, he was then approved to continue his service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Colonel Vulevi\u0107 informed us that he made the decision to retire, and it is his personal request, without any outside influence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore, it is absolutely insane to involve anyone outside the Ministry of Internal Affairs in matters of employment within the MUP, especially President Vu\u010di\u0107,” Da\u010di\u0107 wrote in the statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that the decision to retire anyone is made by him as the minister every few months for all those who have met the conditions for retirement. “And personnel decisions in the police are made by the police director with my consent, not by President Vu\u010di\u0107 or anyone else. That is why I call on everyone to stop spreading falsehoods and lies for the sake of their cheap political points,” Da\u010di\u0107 said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a reminder, the longtime commander of the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit (SAJ) Spasoje Vulevi\u0107 was relieved of his duties and will formally retire on Monday, as N1 learned earlier today.
